Treatment of Veins, broken capillaries and red marks on the face, limbs and torso are a speciality of Dr David Scott.
Facial veins
Dr Scott uses the latest technology namely the Iridex Varilite dual wavelength KTP vascular laser to treat these comfortably. This technology does not leave any bruising which occurred with previous lasers. Occasional additional light devices are needed such as IPL or intense pulsed light.
Leg veins
Dr Scott treats unsightly small to moderate veins on patients legs with sclerotherapy. This process involves an initial consultation during which Dr Scott will develop a treatment plan and determine the need for additional tests. One or more treatment sessions are needed with injections of small amounts of a vein closing chemical. Pressure stockings are then worn post treatment for 3 or more days.
For moderate to larger veins, foam sclerotherapy is used. Ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy is used for larger leg veins which protrude from the surface of the legs. An initial consultation and an ultrasound is required before treatment. Treatment sessions involve injection of a vein closing chemical with an ultrasound guiding the injections. Pressure stocking are worn post treatment for 1 – 2 weeks. Follow up appointments are required.
Dr Scott treats larger surface leg veins with ambulatory phlebectomy. This involves small skin incisions and is performed under local anaesthetic.
Dr Scott will discuss whether the use of laser or sclerotherapy is appropriate at the time of consultation.
